Tungnath temple

Tungnath is one of the five Panch Kedar temples of Lord Shiva, and is often called the highest Shiva temple in the world.

Tungnath temple doors usually close for winter around October or November and open again around April or May. In winter the puja is held at Makkumath. Exact dates are announced every year.

Chandrashila summit

From Tungnath the trail continues to the top of Chandrashila. On a clear day you can see a wide line of Himalayan peaks. To see sunrise from the top, start from Chopta well before dawn with a torch.
